Former SBM Offshore man to become Airborne Oil & Gas CEO

Airborne Oil & Gas (AOG), a manufacturer of thermoplastic composite pipes (TCP), has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO).

The new CEO is Oliver Kassam who was most recently at SBM Offshore N.V. as president and managing director in charge of the company's activities in Brazil.

He has over 20 years of experience in the global offshore services industry holding various senior executive roles. Kassam began his career in the oil and gas industry with KBR in 1996 and has since worked globally with extensive experience in the North Sea, Brazil, Gulf of Mexico, Middle East, West Africa, and Asia.

Kassam spent eight years with Subsea7 before joining SBM Offshore N.V in 2012, as part of a new management team to restructure the business.

AOG said that Kassam would start his new position on July 1, 2018, and would be based in IJmuiden, The Netherlands.

Tim van Delden, chairman of AOG's supervisory board, said: “We are very happy to welcome Oliver Kassam to Airborne Oil & Gas. Oliver shares our vision that AOG's TCP will become a significant component of the subsea pipeline infrastructure, in line with the industry's continued drive for reduction of total installed cost and life-cycle cost.

“With Oliver's global network and a solid commitment to safety and quality, the Supervisory Board is confident that he can work with the AOG management team to lead the company to the next phase of growth and further success.”

Kassam, the new CEO of Airborne Oil & Gas, added: “In its short history, Airborne Oil & Gas has gotten the attention of our industry, developing the leading technology in TCP, as a lighter, corrosion-resistant alternative to the metal pipe.

“I am impressed with how they have progressively built a track record in the oilfield sector, working with several major oil and gas companies around the world. I believe that AOG has a strong future in the oil and gas industry and I am excited to work with the rest of the management team to ensure this.”
