Woodside’s GWF-2 offshore development 98% complete

Woodside's Greater Western Flank Phase 2 development project offshore W. Australia is almost complete and ready for production.

“The project is under budget and at the end of the quarter was 98% complete,” Woodside said in an update on Thursday.

Woodside approved the GWF-2 development in December 2015, earmarking $2 billion for the development.

The GWF-2 will develop 1.6 trillion cubic feet of raw gas (2P 100% project basis) from the combined Keast, Dockrell, Sculptor, Rankin, Lady Nora and Pemberton fields using subsea infrastructure and a 35 km, 16” pipeline connecting to the existing Goodwyn A platform.

“All eight production wells have been connected to the four manifolds and Goodwyn-A platform. The project is preparing for commissioning and startup in Q4 2018,” Woodside said in its quarterly presentation on Thursday.

In the third quarter of the year, Woodside delivered production of 23.1 MMboe and sales revenue of $1,157 million.

Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said the Wheatstone development made a strong contribution to production in the third quarter: ” “Production at Wheatstone LNG continued ahead of plan, underpinning a 13.8% rise in output compared with the corresponding quarter in 2017. Sales revenue increased 25.4% over the same period to $1,157 million on the back of higher prices, although sales volumes were tempered slightly by the timing of Woodside equity sales.”
