Equinor granted Gladsheim well drilling permit

Equinor has received a drilling permit for an offshore exploration well to be drilled in the North Sea, offshore Norway.

To remind, Norwegian company last month secured permission to drill this well using the West Hercules semi-submersible well.

The Gladsheim well – formally named 32/4-2 well – is located about 28 kilometers southeast of the Troll field.

The well is located in the production license 921 where Equinor Energy is the operator of with an ownership interest of 50 per cent. The other licensees are Petoro AS (20 per cent), DNO Norge AS (15 per cent) and Lundin Norge AS (15 per cent).

Production license 921 was awarded on 2 March 2018 in APA 2017 on the Norwegian shelf. This is the first well to be drilled in the license.

It was said in July that the drilling would to begin in late August 2019 and last at least 26 days. Water depth at the location is 292 meters.

Equinor recently used the West Hercules rig in the Barents Sea where it struck oil at the Sputnik prospect. The rig has since been moved to the Norwegian Sea to drill the Lanterna well.
