Petrobras to highlight pre-salt layer production at the Offshore Technology Conference 2013

Petrobras will participate, between May 6th and 9th, in the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which will be held in Houston (USA). This is the world's biggest event devoted to offshore oil exploration and production. At this year's event, which will be attended by CEO Maria das Graças Silva Foster, the company will draw attention to the 311,000 barrels a day that are already being produced from the pre-salt layer. This figure was attained on April 17th, just seven years after oil was first discovered in the region. Development of the company's Cascade and Chinook fields, in the Gulf of Mexico, and of technology for underwater systems will also discussed during the four days of the conference.

Company CEO Graça Foster will deliver a presentation on the Tuesday morning (May 7th), during the discussion on “Global Energy Outlook – Shaping the Future!”, where she will address the forecasts for growth in world energy demand up to 2030 and Petrobras' role in serving this market. In the afternoon, at 4pm, Graça Foster will talk about her own background, as part of “Wise Networking Event – Women in the Industry Sharing Experience”.

Petrobras' executive manager for Production Engineering in the Exploration & Production business area, Solange da Silva Guedes, will participate in the discussions on “Invited Organization: DeepStar", which will take place on the Monday morning (May 6th), the opening day of the conference. DeepStar is a joint partnership between several of the world's leading energy companies, focused on the research and development of technology for deep water oil exploration and production.

PRE-SALT LAYER
On Tuesday (May 7th), between 12:15 and 1:45 pm, the company's executive manager for the pre-salt layer in the Exploration & Production business area, Carlos Tadeu Fraga, will give a presentation on the current production situation in the pre-salt fields and will talk about the production development projects that are planned for the region. The same subject will also be addressed in the discussion on “Megaprojects – Exploring the Opportunities and Challenges”, which will look at the strategies used by Petrobras to set up projects in the region, taking into account all the different factors involved.

In the technical sessions, the Cascade and Chinook project, in the Gulf of Mexico, will be examined from a variety of viewpoints. In the afternoon sessions on Monday (May 6th), Petrobras' representatives will talk about the background, the ground breaking efforts and the technology that made it possible to introduce the BW Pioneer, the first FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading unit) to produce oil and gas in the US sector of the Gulf of Mexico.

Recent progress in underwater technology will also be addressed by the company, technical sessions on the Wednesday (“Subsea Power Sessions” and “Advances in Composite Piping Systems for Offshore Applications”) and Thursday (“Subsea Systems Technology”).

The company will also be represented at the breakfast to be held by Bratecc (Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce) on the Wednesday (May 8th). Petrobras' advisor to the CEO on Local Content and Prominp (Program for the Mobilization of the Brazilian Oil Industry), Paulo Sérgio Rodrigues Alonso, and the executive manager for Exploration and Production Ventures, Bráulio Bastos, will discuss strategic matters relating to the company's Business Plan.
