ConocoPhillips gets nod to drill North Sea well

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted ConocoPhillips a drilling permit for a well located in the North Sea offshore Norway.

The well 25/7-8 S will be drilled from the Leiv Eiriksson drilling rig for which ConocoPhillips has already obtained a consent. The well was named Enniberg.

The drilling program for well 25/7-8 S relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production license 917.

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia is the operator with an ownership interest of 40 percent. Other licensees are Lundin Norway (20 percent), Suncor Energy Norge (20 percent), and Vår Energi (20 percent).

The area in this license consists of parts of blocks 25/7 and 25/10. The well will be drilled about 15 kilometres west of Ringhorne and 210 kilometres northwest of Stavanger.

Production license 917 was awarded on March 2, 2018, in APA 2017 on the Norwegian shelf. This is the first well to be drilled in the license.
