US Coast Guard performs medevac of another offshore
platform worker
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has performed an evacuation via helicopter of a 47-year-old male worker from an
offshore platform located near Venice, Louisiana.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 1 July 2023, and the Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders
received a call at around 11:51 p.m. from an undisclosed offshore platform, stating that a crew member was
experiencing heart attack-like symptoms. Following the request, the watchstanders coordinated the launch of an
Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew to assist.
After the aircrew arrived on the scene and hoisted the crew member early on Sunday morning, the worker was
transferred to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at University Medical Center in New Orleans.
According to the Coast Guard, the worker was last reported to be in stable condition.
The U.S. Coast Guard has been kept busy over the last few months within the oil and gas sector, as its
assistance was required multiple times with one of the recent cases entailing a medevac of a 33-year-old male
worker from an oil platform located approximately 23 miles southwest of Port Fourchon, Louisiana.
Prior to this, a 28-year-old male worker was medevaced from a BP-operated platform located around 130 miles
south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Additionally, a 37-year-old male worker was medevaced from another
undisclosed oil platform about 40 miles south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana.
